Happy Mamanista Friday!  Friday couldn't come fast enough this week.  Not that I'm going to get any rest this weekend but it's good not to be locked in an office.  Mama Fashion Files and I are sporting casual looks this week featuring gingham.

I'm so ready for the weekend.  The last couple of weeks have been crazy busy.  I plan to catch up on some rest and get back on my diet.  Enough of my whining.  This week, Mama Fashion Files and I are wearing vests.  I wore this outfit to the Beyonce and Jay Z concert in Atlanta on Tuesday.

Happy Mamanista Friday!  I'm looking forward to a pretty low key weekend just working on Peyton's and Mister's birthday parties.  This week for Mamanista Fridays, Mama Fashion Files and I are rocking shorts.  I hear a lot of women over 30 say they can't wear shorts.  That's a lie!  Other than booty shorts, we got this!

The Return of Style Me Friday: Denim Cutoffs

Style Me Friday with Fashionista Next Door is back!  Did you miss it?  I did!  With all that I had going on, I welcomed the mini vacay!  This weeks look features cut off denim shorts.  Because I'm so behind in life, I'm kind of cheating this week.  Remember my guest post on 5 Ways to Wear Denim Shorts?....Well...This is one of them that got the most love.  I will also add the other looks in case you missed it.

Weekend Style: Nerd Glasses

I hope you guys had a great weekend.  My mother is back in the hospital.  She is doing better again but I'm making sure they don't let her go until all her issues are addressed.  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

On another note, Peyton has been killing me with these white nerd glasses. She's been wearing them all weekend like she needs them to see.  Folks have been getting a kick out of Peyton sporting these glasses in public.  I didn't have time to get Peyton all dolled up like I wanted to this weekend so her casual look went great with her glasses.

Happy Friday!  This is the last Friday in June! OMG!  Peyton's birthday is next Sunday and I'm knee deep in DIYs for her party!  I'm so happy this weeks Style Me Friday look was simple,  agray tee.  I have a ton of those!  I love gray! 

Style Me Friday: Shorts + Blazers

Do y'all watch Scandal?  That has got to be the best show EVA!  The season finale had me sitting in the fetal position for two hours after it went off!  I don't know how I am going to make it until the next season begins!

Last week I decided to pull out my Vegan shorts to attend the Motions Holiday Meetup!  After taking pictures I realized that my shirt was all bunched up.  I thought I would mention that before yall started talking about me : ).

I had a hair battle this weekend against myself!  I have been trying to get better at working with my natural hair but Sunday there was a battle!  It needed to be washed desperately!  I kept it moving because I had to attend the BLM Girls Lunch.

BlogHer was a world-wind!  Still trying to get my life together. 

To kick off BlogHer I hosted a blogger social, Lipstick + High Heels with co-host Danielle from The Style + Beauty Doctor on Thursday night at Pranna in Manhattan.  The event was sponsored by EDEN Bodyworks!  EDEN Bodyworks is an natural hair care line that contains No Alcohol, No Petroleum, No Mineral Oils and No Sodium Sulfates.

Lipstick + High Heels was off the hook!  Bloggers from all over the country came together for this social.  I was truly honored to be in the midst of these wonderful women!  What an great way to kick off the conference in style!

Hair + Hip Hop

Friday Night I attended the Hair + Hip Hop event at the fabulous Glam Bar hosted by Lexi of Curls, Coils and Kinks and Danielle of Style + Beauty Doctor with celeb hair stylist Gabi and Love + Hip Hop Atlanta star K Michelle.  I love hair and I love hip hop, so you know I was pumped for this event!

It's So Miami in Atlanta

Last Thursday I hung out with some of my bloggy BFF's Eboni, Lexi and Danielle at Whiskey Blue at the W Hotel in Buckhead.  The It's So Miami party was hosted by Miami Tourism (something like that).

Weekend Style in Shorts

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  My was super busy as usual!  I have a busy week as well but some awesome things are going down!  I wanted to update you guys on Peyton's sleeping.  Guess what?  She sleeps ALL NIGHT!  In her toddler bed!  But guess what else... I am so used to her waking up all hours that I still wake up... at all hours.   I hope that changes soon!  Anywho...

On Sunday I took Peyton with me to a blogger event at Madewell hosted by Mattieologie.  Super fun!  Post coming soon!  I took these pictures of Peyton as we were leaving the mall.  I am in LOVE with the first picture!

This baby is just so happy!  She just loves to get too people together so she can swing!

Shirt is Lola et Moi that I purchased from Gilt Groupe.  Shorts are Koala Kids from Toys R Us.  I bought them last summer, they happen to fit this year.  Shoes are Carters that I purchased from Marshalls for $10.  Head band is from Forever 21 for $1.

Love long button up shirts with denim shorts.  Very casual and chic!  I need to get me a pair for denim shorts asap!  I have not had any since H.S!  Will you be sporting denim shorts this summer?

Monday Mingle in Shorts

Last Thursday I was invited back to Neiman Marcus for their Trend Event party.  I  wore a Gap bow blouse, leather pleather shorts by Lauren Conrad for Kohl's and Old Navy jean blazer.  I am carrying my navy Gucci Jackie bag.  Booties from Sole Society.  I wish I had these shorts in the fall but better late then never!  I paid $12 for them at an awesome sale at Kohl's.

I love these Tory Burch looks.  That is one mixing pattern look I would love to rock!

After I left Neimans I headed to meet children clothing designer Wendy of My Bougie Baby.  Wendy is based in DC and specializes in trendy tasteful fashions for girls sizes 4 - 14.

Look at That Mama with the Daisy Dukes On!

I am guilty of rocking Daisy Dukes back in the 90's.  But shorts are back again!!! And you can dress them up! I guess that means shorts are the new skirt?  30 is the new 20?...

I missed out on summer last year being knocked up and in the house with a newborn. Now Mama is BACK!  It's summer and Mama is ready to hit the streets! 

I have a few Grown and Sexy events planned for early summer so I have been trying find my new mama style. I am going to a concert next week and I want to rock shorts!  Here is my inspiration...

Or I can go more conservative but wear some funky shoes of course!

I also got the longer ones too just in case.

I still need a top.  I am thinking I want something plain because the shoes I plan on wearing are SICK! I am going to try a white fitted button down like the pictures above.



So while everyone is wearing dress you can wear shorts and not have to worry about your pocketbook or spanx showing!  I will be sure to post pics of my final outfit.
