Peyton's Grammy Fashion Review & Floppy Hat

I hope you guys enjoyed the weekend.  Peyton is becoming quite the fashionista.  Lately she has been styling Mister.  Last night she watched the Grammy red carpet with me, commenting on the looks (details below).  Then, Peyton insisted on sporting this floppy hat from Gap Kids and fur vest that was handed down from one of my girlfriends.  She did that!

Faves From the BET Awards Red Carpet

Did you guys watch the BET Awards last night?  I thought it was really good.  Hands down, Charlie Wilson took over the show!  I think him, Justin Timberlake, Snoop and Pharrell should do an album.  I was dancing in front of the TV like I was in the club.  Dressing for the BET Awards can be tricky.  Do you dress like the Grammys? The club? or Hip Hop?  These ladies got it right in my book.

Gabby Douglas looked stunning in this Sheri Hill lace dress!  It's tough for ladies with a body as athletic as hers to find a perfect dress.  Gabby found hers!

Oscar Kids: 9 Yr Old Quvenzhane Wallis

The Oscars were a snooze fest but the highlight for me was 9 year old actress, Quvenzhane Wallis.  She is the star of a movie I have not seen, Beasts of the Southern Wild.  Not sure if it is out or just an independent film but I am on a mission to see it.  She is the youngest actress ever to be nominated for a lead role.  Go girl!

J Lo at the Grammys

I missed most of the Grammy red carpet last night.  When Jennifer Lopez hit the scene I knew I hadn't missed anything!  J Lo gave me all sorts of life!

What I Wore on the Red Carpet

Saturday, I had an amazing opportunity to be a red carpet correspondent for Bag Ladies Radio at the BET Hip Hop Awards.  Bah-nan-nahs!  I am so grateful for this opportunity.  I was out there to check out the fashions, seeing who was Haute and who was NOT!

Mama Met Zac Posen!

Sorry I have been keeping this from yall but last week I was blessed to attend the Zac Posen Fall 2012 fashion show at Neiman Marcus benefiting National Black Art Festival

So cute!
This is going to be a two part post.  This post is all about the show!  Let me just say, I felt like I was in a dream.  How could this be real!  I have been a long time fan of Zac Posen.  Especially the dresses that were in the first Sex in the City movie! Too die for!

*Warning: This post may increase heart rate, sweating, weak knees and dizziness.   View at your own risk!*

Are you still there?  The finale red dress had my knees and hands shaking!  These pieces looked just as incredible going as they did coming!  Zac Posen said the Fall 2012 collection was inspired by the Far East.  Each piece has Asian inspired details.  Zac Posen definitely brought New York Fashion week to Atlanta!

Which dress would you sell a limb for?

Behind the scenes post coming soon!

Special Event Style: Walgreens

Thanks to Walgreens for underwriting this post. I was paid as a member of the Clever Girls Collective, but the content is all mine. Visit http://www.discoverbeautywithin.com/

If you have been reading my blog longer then a week you know I attend a lot of different types of events.  Remember Mister's big Movie Premier? In my head, I hype it up like I am going to hit the E! Red Carpet! This was the Oscars for me!  We don't get these opportunities often so why not make it an experience.  The stars on the red carpet look perfect.  I can't afford Rachel Zoe or June Ambrose to dress me so I have to style my self.

Every stylist needs a kit.  You have to be prepared for everything!  Nothing worse then running around the house trying to find things when you have to be somewhere looking fabulous.  I head to Walgreens to get everything I need for my kit for a Special Event.  Here are some of the items I pick up from Walgreens to get ready for my special event.
  • Dr. Scholl's inserts to keep those fabulous shoes from killing my feet.
  • Perfect color lipstick for the special night!  I wore bright red.
  • Nail polish: I like to have a few options just in case my mood changes.
  • Scotch double stick tape to keep everything in the dress.
  • Baby oil to grease up the legs and feet!
  • Sewing kit is a must!  A botton could fall off or a zipper could brake.
So after you find the perfect dress you have to find have the right tools in place to get ready for your special event!   What do you do to get ready for a special event?

Who Shut it Down at the Oscars?

I finally saw The Help last week and I LOVE that movie so I was so excited to check in and out of the Oscars to root for Viola and Octavia!  But of course the fashion was up there too.  Here are my top picks of the night.
Viola Davis in Vera Wang
This color looks amazing on Viola.  Love that she rocked the au natural to the Oscars!

Octavia Spencer in Tadashi
This dress is just lovely.  It would look awesome on anyone who puts it on.

Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli
Emma looks very Nicole Kidman circa 2007 but I still like it!

J Lo in Zuhair Murad
In J Lo fashion she is letting us know she still got it!

Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford
My girl Gwyn never dissapoints!  The dress is simple but that cape....  She smashed it!

Stacey Keibler
George Clooney's Boo shut it down in this beautiful Marchesa.

Sandra Bullock in Marchesa was a total fail for me.  What do you think?

Who was your fave lady?  Did you like Sandra's dress?

Mama's Movie Premiere

Well Tuesday was the BIG premiere at the Fox of Mister's movie that he produced Sunday Morning Rapture.  It was a awesome night!  The night was un-real!  We actually had a police escort to the FOX! Crazy! We felt like celebrities for one night!

Makeup was done by Jasmine from Fashion Rouge, who I meet at some blogging events this summer!  She hooked a sista up!  Love her!  You thought it was Beyonce didn't you? LOL! I did my own hair.

So I ended up wearing the Ports 1961 gown from Rent the Runway.  Rent the Runway was a great experience and will definitely use them again!  Thanks to again to Aisha from Hartlyn Kids for suggesting!  I am carrying Gucci clutch and Pretty Girl Glam cocktail ring.  Fur is the same one I wore when I got married over 4 years ago from Bloomingdale's.

Here are my beautiful shoes from my Shoe Guy!  Only $40!  I was actually able to wear them all night.  I ran out of gas after about 4 hrs but we were headed back to the limo.

Mister and I hitting the Red Carpet.

I loved the dress but it was super thin and made of viscose.  You can see my spanks! Hopefully it looked like a slip to the untrained eye : )  I styled Mister.  I didn't want him to wear a tux, I thought this look screamed cool Producer!  He is so cute!
All the folks standing watching the Red Carpet.

Posters outside the theater.  The movie was AMAZING!  Mister did an awesome job, could not be more proud of him!  He even gave me special thanks in the credits!  What a sweetheart!

After the movie there was a reception with the cast and crew.
Here is Mister with the writer/ director of the Sunday Morning Rapture, Bishop William Sheals.
There goes those spanx again!
Mister with one of the stars of the movie Tiny AKA Dee Bo (from Friday)
My niece Tish and I tired and ready to go!

Like I said amazing night!  I think my next career move may be being Mister's Manager/ PR!  He was all over the place trying to work behind the scenes.  He even missed his named in the opening credits!  But we still cheered loud!  So I had to wrangle him in and make him take photos and do interviews.

Anything is possible when you work hard and have faith!  I am so inspired by what Mister has done for a movie that can change peoples lives.  It wasn't easy for him or I!  I have been holding down the fort while he does what he needs to do.  Trust me the fairy tale was over real quick when I had to get up and go to work the next morning!

What do you think about the dress?  I will share more details on how you can see the movie when I find out more! Thank you guys for being so supportive!

I Still Need a Dress: Rent the Runway

Thanks ladies for your kind and supportive words for Mister!  He said for me to tell you all "Thank You!".  Also, thanks for the feed back on the dresses.  Here are the top 3 picks:

25%

20%

15%
Out of these I like the first dress the best.... But... I think it may be made for a "skinny" girl.  I am thinking that the little rosy things will make me look bigger/wider.  Hopefully they have it in the store so I can try it on.  The 2nd place dress, which I love I am starting to think it may be too low cut.  I have some big girls and a tat on my chest.  I would be looking like I am going to the VMAs!

Aisha from Hartlyn Kids suggested Rent the Runway!  Why didn't I think of that!  I already have an account and everything but have never purchased rented.  Basically you can rent designer dresses for close to 10% of the retail price!  Should I be paying $500 for a dress that I am going to probably wear once?  So here are some of my picks from the site.

Chris Benz

David Meister

Ports 1961

Robert Rodriguez Black Label

Yigal Azrouël

This weekend I will be trying on a ton of dresses.  If nothing tickles my fancy I am going to try Rent the Runway!  Time is running out!

Would you rent a dress?
