Low-Cal Oreo Milkshake #SweetNLowStars

I made my Sweet’N Low milkshake as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #SweetNLowStars. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

I know summer is just about over (Yay fall!), but I love my milkshakes all year long. I’m not a big plain ice cream in a bowl eater but hand me a milkshake and watch me go HAM! Milkshakes at restaurants don’t have my best interests or waistline at heart. I was challenged with the task of making my own low-cal milkshake that will satisfy cravings and save my closet at the same time. Using Sweet’N Low, I created the guilt free Oreo milkshake!

The Diet Diaries: Prepare or Prepare to Fail

I figured out the secret to weight loss success!  The secret is to PREPARE!  It’s that simple.  Well, preparing is not that simple but if you do it you will lose weight.  I never realized how important being prepared is when you are trying to lose weight.  It makes all the difference.

The Diet Diaries: What to Eat?

Last week I shared my diet and fitness struggle with you.  The struggle is real out here!  The hardest part for me is eating right.   On top of eating right, I don't like cooking.  Plus, I don't have the time.  I wish I could afford a chef or a fresh meal delivery service.  I would loose this weight in not time.  Unfortunately, I don't have it like that.

Partying with Babiators

Last week, we had such a great time at the Babiators launch party for the spring collection at the Baby Braithwaite store in Buckhead.  Since we were checking out the new Babiators shades, I thought it would be fitting to wear this bright yellow dress.

Weight Loss Chronicles: Egg White Muffins

I posted my egg white muffins on Instagram last week and you guys requested more details so here you go.  A friend of mine turned me onto “egg” muffins a long time ago.  Egg white muffins are the most delicious, low-fat on the go breakfast.  My Weight Watchers Simple Start sponsored campaign is over but I'm still using Weight Watchers and I thought I would still share some of the foods that I have been eating.  No, I'm not trying to be a food blogger.  Y'all know I don't like to cook.

Healthy Living with Simply Balanced

Listening to the news and watching the Doctor shows, you don’t know what is safe to eat any more.  I want to make sure Peyton is on the right track to healthy living but who can keep up.  I also need for the foods that we eat to be simple to prepare.  Target has just made eating healthier very simple! Target recently introduced Simply Balanced, a wellness grocery brand.

Tips for Snacking on the Go with Mott's

You never think about how important it is to have snacks readily available until you have a child.   Leaving the house with out snack is the main ingredient for a disastrous outing.  Ever been at the mall a little longer than expected right before lunch or dinner? Or, attend a birthday party where they only serve cake?  When this happens you end up feeding your child fast food options.  I would rather save that option for emergency (or lazy) situations.

Strong 4 Life!

Last Wednesday I was invited to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to learn about the Strong 4 Life campaign and to tour the clinic.
Strong 4 Life is the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s campaign to fight Childhood Obesity.   Georgia is #2 (Yes, the 2nd) in the US for the highest rate of childhood obesity!

The Strong 4 Life approach:
·         Increase awareness
·         Improve healthy behaviors
·         Advocate for policy change
·         Establish strategic partnerships
·         Increase access to clinical interventions
You guys know I don’t cook so I worry a lot about Peyton’s future health and diet.   I want her to have the best start and right now chicken nuggets are taking over!  Needless to say I was excited to learn more about the Strong 4 Life campaign.
They shared with information from focus groups as to why this is happening.  Convenience was one of the top reason moms of this focus group feel that their kids are overweight.  We all know how easy it is to roll through the drive thru! Lifestyle is another factor that we don’t think about.  Kids are really into computers and video games so they don’t play like we used to when we were kids.  They shared with us that kids, not even teenagers are undergoing gastric bypass surgery!  This is a serious problem!
Check out these billboards that were put up around metro Atlanta.

These little changes could make a big difference!

Health 4 Life Team
Strong 4 Life has a clinical program for overweight and obese kids called Health 4 Life.  This is a 12 month multi-disciplinary medical management program for children with BMI over the 95th percentile.  This program focuses more on lifestyle changes and setting goals.  The program includes visits with a team consisting of psychologist, nutritionist, exercise scientist and medical doctor.
Mom Bloggers in attendance (L to R): Bluebird Patch, Ivey of Ivey League Mama, Dr. Stephanie Walsh of CHOA, Christy of Alpharetta Moms, Mimi of Lipgloss and Binky, Fran of Bossy Girl, Renee J Ross

Of course in Baby Shopaholic fashion I have to show you what I wore. LOL!  I finally wore my Jason Wu for Target dress.  I LOVE IT!   Shoes are old Jeffrey Campbell.  Belt is from Forever 21.

I am so honored to have been invited.  So many things we don't think of until its too late.  We (Mothers, Friends, Sisters and Grandmothers) can make a few changes to get and keep our children on the right track.  I am going to break out my never used crock pot to make convenient home cooked meals.  What are you doing to fight childhood obesity?
