Hair Products Peyton Hearts

Peyton has a lot of hair.  Her hair is a work in progress but I am asked all the time what I use in her hair.  Looks like other moms have the same issues.  The popular "Baby" shampoo's never worked for her.  When she was born there were no options like Cara B and Shea Moisture for babies.  I had to try other products more suitable for her hair.  I'm not ingredient obsessed but try to stick with products that are free of parabens, sulfate and harsh alcohols.  You should definitely use what works best for you.  Here is a little info about about the ingredients.

Parabens: Preservatives that can mimic estrogen.  Estrogen and babies doesn't sound like a good mix to me.

Sulfates:  Detergents that produce lather.  Can cause eye irritation, dry skin and tangled hair.  I will use a product with sulfate every once in a while for a deep cleaning. Not for weekly washes. 

Harsh Alcohols: Evaporate quickly and will cause dry hair cuticles, therefore drying out the hair.

Here are some our favorite products that we use on the regular and why we heart them!  Of course not at the same time! LOL! Depends on the style.

Peyton is barely fitting into her summer clothes but I will only buy fall clothes.  Peyton received a gift card to Sears for her birthday so we headed out to find play clothes for fall.

Big Hair + Sugar Lips

I had a hair battle this weekend against myself!  I have been trying to get better at working with my natural hair but Sunday there was a battle!  It needed to be washed desperately!  I kept it moving because I had to attend the BLM Girls Lunch. 

Weekend Style: C Wonder

Saturday morning Peyton and I were out bright an early to head to the pre-opening blogger breakfast at C Wonder at Lenox Mall in Atlanta!  I have heard so many things about C Wonder so I was excited to check it out.

Shop The Aisle Blogger Style Valdosta Recap

Sunday I hosted a Shop The Aisle Blogger Style at Walmart in Valdosta, GA.  Being a hair and beauty product junkie, I was happy to talk to guest about my experience with the products that were part of the event. 

Oogieloves Prize Pack Giveaway! ($150 Value)

Peyton and I were invited to the Oogieloves screening in Atlanta a few weeks back and she had a blast!  Keep in mind Peyton is 2 and only saw this movie once.  Every time she sees the Oogieloves poster or commercial or anything with the characters she yells "Oogieloves".  I was shocked that she remembered.  I will be taking her back to see the Oogieloves movie when it hits theaters on Oogust 29th!  You should take your young children too!  This is one of few movies that have been rated G!  The creators of the movie have a powerful message about what our kids watch these days.

Runway Red 2012 Celebrity Kids Fashion Show

Last Saturday I attended the Runway Red Kids Fashion Show benefiting Show Me the Way Foundation at the Atlanta Zoo.  Show Me The Way helps to support kids that are infected/ affected by HIV/AIDS.  The Runway Red show features local celebrity kids working the runway!

Macy's 7th Annual Spelling Bee

While Peyton is still perfecting her ABC's, Macy's is hosting the 7th Annual Spelling Bee contest with Reading is Fundamental!

Competitions will be held in 27 cities at Macy's.  Reginal winners have the opportunity to win an iPad, a $100 Macy's Gift Card, a tutoring scholarship from Kaplan and an online gift card from Scholastic. Click HERE to see when it is coming to your city!

David Yurman Fall Preview at Neiman Marcus

Dreams do come true!  Not all but a girl can at least dream!  I was in a euphoric state last Tuesday as I was previewing the new David Yurman Labyrinth and Papyrus Collection at Neiman Marcus in Atlanta.

Weekend Style: 4Naturals Family Beauty

Hey Guys!  I hope you all had a awesome weekend.  Mine was crazy busy!  Saturday morning was the open house for Peyton's new toddler pre-school!  Soon as we left there I had to head to Walmart where I was hosting 4Naturals Family Beauty Days!  Then left the 4Naturals event, grabbed a bite to eat and then headed to the Runway Red Fashion Show!  I am typing this post with one eye open!  Peyton's first day of school is today!!!  (I know I am making it sound like she is going to High School but I am still excited!)

Breakfast with Kids Headquarters NYC

If you have not noticed, BlogHer Parties don't stop!!!  The morning after my Lipstick and High Heels party I headed to breakfast at Kids Headquarters Manhattan Showroom.  Kids Headquarters are responsible for children's clothing lines for brands like Paul Frank, Calvin Klein, Hurley and Under Armour (check out our review HERE).

The Oogieloves Movie Screening

Before the dreaded departure of leaving my Peyton Pie behind to head to Blogher, we were invited to a private screening with fellow social media moms of The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure.  This is one of the first movies to be rated G in a long time.

THE OOGIELOVES IN THE BIG BALLOON ADVENTURE is a unique, interactive movie experience for young children and their families. It is a family musical that allows children to be children, encouraging them to sing and dance with their friends on screen and to help “move” the adventure along. Lipstick + High Heels + EDEN Cocktails!

BlogHer was a world-wind!  Still trying to get my life together. 

To kick off BlogHer I hosted a blogger social, Lipstick + High Heels with co-host Danielle from The Style + Beauty Doctor on Thursday night at Pranna in Manhattan.  The event was sponsored by EDEN Bodyworks!  EDEN Bodyworks is an natural hair care line that contains No Alcohol, No Petroleum, No Mineral Oils and No Sodium Sulfates.

Lipstick + High Heels was off the hook!  Bloggers from all over the country came together for this social.  I was truly honored to be in the midst of these wonderful women!  What an great way to kick off the conference in style!

Yummy Baby of the Year!

Hey Guys!  I missed yall so much!  I just came back from BlogHer in NYC!  Boy do I have a lot of stuff to share with yall!  I had a ball meeting other mom's and bloggers like myself.  I am going to do my best to crank out all these post asap!  

Last Sunday, I was super honored to be a judge for the Yummy Spoonfuls Baby of the Year Awards at BEEHive Boutique in Atlanta!  This event picks the next Yummy Baby to appear on the campaigns for Yummy Spoonfuls.  So sad Peyton is too big to enter : ).  Yummy Spoonfuls is a 100% natural, organic and fresh baby company.  Yummy Spoonfuls actually come frozen to stay fresh unlike the stuff that sits in the cabinet over a year without expiring!  Gives you something to think about!!!!

Fashionista Next Door: Guest Post

Trina asked me to talk to you all about remixing, so I thought I’d show you all four ways to wear a black pleated skirt. One of the major focuses over on my blog is finding affordable pieces what will also endure the test of time – trend-wise, and quality-wise. I bought this skirt at TJ Maxx for only $9.99, and it was a great value. It has really become a staple in my wardrobe, and it’s proven to be versatile across all seasons. It’s great with light weight blouses, knits and tees in spring or summer, and a pair of tights or boots takes it right into fall or winter.

For this look, I kept things simple with a billowy button front shirt an tan sandals. The over-sized top and the mini skirt balance each other out.
