Back to School Suitcase

Now is the perfect time to stock up on school supplies for both school and home because there are so many deals.  I try to keep a few boxes of crayons on deck for when Peyton’s stash is depleted because of Mister and I stepping on them all the time.  Crayons, papers and coloring books are everywhere in our house.   Peyton has a desk but her drawing and coloring take place everywhere else.   In an attempt to decrease the mess, I put together this little back to school suitcase to keep all her items.

Write Chicago Teen Workshop by Urban Shake

Next Sunday, January 5th, Urban Shake will host Write Chicago, a "sicker than your average" writing workshop for teens in my hometown of Chicago!  I would have loved to attend a fun writing event like this when I was a teen.  I'm my thirties and still trying to learn how to write.  Write Chicago is a FREE event!  Perfect place for teens to explore creative writing for self-expression in music, mass media and more.

Weekend Style: Skate Party

Where do the weekends go?  I think I need to take a Monday off just to sleep (while Peyton's at school).  Saturday Peyton and I went to one of my bestie son's 2nd birthday skate party!  Two year old skating?  Peyton took a nap in the car on the way to the party so she was not in the mood when we got to the skating rink.  She was not feeling taking pictures.  I will make sure I take them before I leave the house next time!

The Secret to Movie Night

Going out for dinner and a movie with Mister are non-existent now that we have a child.  Even if it were easy to get out to the movies, who has 2 hours to sit in a movie theater?  The last time my husband and I went to the movies I sat there thinking about clothes that needed to be washed and folded, I gotta pick up some diapers on the way home, and what emails I need to respond to.  In the words of Sweet Brown “Ain’t no body got time for that!”  LOL!

Yummy Baby of the Year!

Hey Guys!  I missed yall so much!  I just came back from BlogHer in NYC!  Boy do I have a lot of stuff to share with yall!  I had a ball meeting other mom's and bloggers like myself.  I am going to do my best to crank out all these post asap!

Last Sunday, I was super honored to be a judge for the Yummy Spoonfuls Baby of the Year Awards at BEEHive Boutique in Atlanta!  This event picks the next Yummy Baby to appear on the campaigns for Yummy Spoonfuls.  So sad Peyton is too big to enter : ).  Yummy Spoonfuls is a 100% natural, organic and fresh baby company.  Yummy Spoonfuls actually come frozen to stay fresh unlike the stuff that sits in the cabinet over a year without expiring!  Gives you something to think about!!!!

BabbaBox Review

I am super pumped to share this review of Babba Co's BabbaBoxBabbaBox is like a Birch Box for children!  Instead of beauty products it is filled with activites for kids!  Cool huh!

The Babba Box is subscription box delivered monthly with ALL the physical materials plus know-how content to really engage with your kids. Each month features a new theme-based box filled with activities, knowledge, and experiences that encompass all the ways kids love to learn!

This is what I saw when I first opened the box! Neat O!
My eyes first went to the star wine stopper!  A gift for the parents!  Love how they thougth about us!  Now they have me hooked!

Every month the Babba Box has a different theme.  April's box theme is Sun, Moon and Stars.  The box is then broken down into 4 components: Create, Explore, Story Tell, and Connect.
Explore: Peyton can use the binoculars to look at the moon and record the shape.

Create: There is a kit for your child to make their own constellation
Create:  Making a paper mache planet.
Story Tell:  Box included a book about stars.

I thinks BabbaBox is a brilliant idea!  Now this box may have been a little advanced for Peyton since she is not even 2 but I can try and alter some of the activities.  Box is great for ages 3-6.

I am ignorant when it comes to putting together activities for Peyton, outside of coloring and painting.  BabbaBox does it all for you.  Once you open the box you don't have to move!  No running to the store spending a ton of money trying to make up an activity that could be a major fail and not necessarily teaching the child.  I think every parent should give BabbaBox a try!

BabbaBox is also a great gift for other children in your life.  BabbaBox offers differnt packages.  Regular monthly membership is $29.99/month.

Are you familiar with BabbaBox?  How do you come up with new learning activities for your child?
