No Sleep Till Brooklyn Update

I told you guys last week about Peyton's sleeping and how I don't sleep just to try and keep up.

Since having Peyton, this is my new slogan is "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" .  I love the Beastie Boys and Kate Spade!  So I had to get this bracelet

Here is the skinny:

After my plea and a few tears to Mister that we needed to do something about her sleeping habits he is was on board.

We started Wednesday night.  I put her in her crib wide awake like normal.  She jumped up before I got out her room and cried for me to get her.  I kept it moving back to my room.

On the monitor I hear her jump out the crib and the door open.  I go back in with out saying anything and put her back in.  More cries!

Then she starts to call for Daadee!  We kind of chuckled because it wasn't a scream of daddy, it was like a shout, like "I know you hear me calling you because I am saying it as loud as I can".  So funny to hear a baby try to project their voice.

She gets out and cracks the door but doesn't call for anyone.  We go to look.  She is standing behind the door quite and not crying! LOL!  I wanted to laugh so hard.

Few minutes later... our little Jackie Joyner jumps out again.  I put her back.

After few more times we didn't hear anything.

I waited a few hours of not hearing anything to check on her.  I open the door to see she is sleeping in the rocker recliner chair in her room with a blanket over her.  I felt so bad for my little baby.  But she was knocked out.  I knew if I picked her up to put her back in the bed all our efforts would go out the door.  So I left her there.

She did not wake up until the am!  After night one, I knew we could do it.

The next few nights she went down with no problem.  But we did find her sleeping in the chair.  I came to the conclusion she is over the crib and changed her bed to a toddler bed.  So that way so won't hurt her self trying to climb out and she may actually stay in it if she knows she can get out.
We still found her in the chair a few times but she doesn't get in it until early morning.

Next phase is training Mister!  He wants to keep the baby monitor on.  So we hear every time she coughs, moves the covers or snores!  So I am still not getting rest!!!  Her room is on the same side of the house as our bedroom and if she cries loud enough we will hear her with the door closed.  The pediatrician told me kick the monitor to the curb.  Mister won't listen!

Do you use a monitor?  How old were your kids when you got rid of it?  Sorry for the long post!

  1. I'm still using a monitor and the toddler turned 3 in march. I didn't know we were supposed to get rid of it :/ I guess i'm just like mister, i need to know everything that is going on, every snore, every cough. My hubby is going to have to pry it away from me one day lol

  2. Never used the monitor cause both my kids slept in our bedroom til about 2 and a half I had to get my rest at night and that was the only way we could. At 2 and a half when they did transition to their room we did not have to many problems a night light and a few toys usually did the trick. She will get use to it soon....I hope.

  3. We actually still use a monitor and haven't thought about getting rid of it. We'll probably get rid of it once we transition her into her big girl room by the end of the year. We actually just turned Madison's crib into a toddler bed not because she was jumping out of it but because she's so darn heavy and we got tired of picking her up and throwing her over the rail! lol P will do just fine a couple of days.

  6. I just stopped using the monitor when we were getting this weird static & thought our toddler (who will be 3 in May) was to old for us to go out & buy another as her room is right across the hall. I say, if she's more comfortable in the rocker recliner, let her sleep there. It won't last forever. I would still put her in her bed and let her get up on her own if that's what she chooses to do.

  8. We ditched the monitor a long time ago. I don't even remember when. Our son's room is close enough to ours that we could hear with without it and he had no problem calling us when he needed us. I sleep a lot better without looking the monitor every few minutes! LOL! The toddler bed was a whole other transition for us. He thought nap time was a joke because he could just get up whenever he wanted. That first week with the toddler bed was ugh!

  11. LOL! This brings back SO many memories. I was obsessed with the baby monitor when I had my first child. We heard every scratch, shuffle and burp, whether we needed to or not. Second time round I had twins. The monitor lasted about two weeks! (They're healthy and happy 8 year olds now btw!)

  16. Sweet story. Peyton is so precious. I never used a monitor. You will be fine. Those mother's instincts kick in even in your sleep.

  17. I really need to get rid of our monitor. Especially since most nights, we sleep with our door open and his too after we all go to sleep. I usually turn it way down.
And besides, the child doesn't call out anymore. He just shows up in our room!!

  18. Congrats on your new routine! I know it's hard :'(. I never used a monitor because my children's room was adjacent to mine at that time. You know I'm old school, LOL!

  19. I'm not a Mom and don't really have any plans to become one, but I think I would be to scared to not have the monitor on. I would probably be that Mom who goes in several times to make sure she is still breathing. Lol
