The Diet Diaries: Workouts + Change of Plans

Slight change of plans.  I've been going hard working out and eating right for the last two weeks.  I waited till Friday morning to get on the scale.  I was 3 pounds heavier.  I was devastated and immediately went to pick up a chicken biscuit and hash browns.  I was upset all day.  Everyone I shared this devastating news with would tell me “It’s because you’re gaining muscle, just stick with it”.  BS!  I've totally changed how I was eating, cooking every day (I hate) and working out 4 times a week.  Last thing I need to be doing is gaining.  I might as well have sat home eating French fries.   I was in a dark place.  I felt like I had wasted two weeks.  I was sure I would be down 3-5 pounds by now, instead I’m going up.  Even though I didn't want to hear my friends try to justify my weight gain, the fact that they cared enough to listen kept me encouraged.  Saturday, woke up in better spirits and decided to keep pressing forward.  I knew I had to make more changes.

I don’t want a quick fix but I need to shed some pounds asap.  I’m throwing Mister a big party for his upcoming landmark birthday and I want to be FINE!  The party is in a couple of weeks and I have a lot of work to do (for the party and my body).   I was doing Weight Watchers, which I love, but I think I need to do something a little more drastic.   I decided to do a very low carb meal plan.  I’m eating a ton of lean meat, veggies and fruit.
Shoes, Asics (similar) | IPod shuffle (old) | Tank, Target | Hat, J. Crew (similar) | Fitness pants, Old Navy | Sports bra, Marika

As far as working out goes, I've been getting it in.  I've been going to boot camp classes at 5:30am, three times a week and doing Zumba twice a week.  Since I started working out, I have noticed that my stomach is getting flatter.  I didn't take any measurement.  I will let my pants be my measuring tool.  This may sound really wack, but cute workout clothes motivate me to go to the gym.  I reward myself with a new shirt, pants or sports bra if I complete at least 3 workouts in a week. My Marika sports bras are the shiz for my D cups!  I got them at Nordstrom Rack for $13 each!

While I’m getting my life together, posts may be a little later (like today) or only a few times a week.  I have to put ME first for a change.  Have you had any setbacks in your weight loss and fitness plan?  How did you deal with it?

  2. Girl, cute workout clothes keep me motivated too!

I think what you're doing is fine... keep it up!

Of course, if you need results that are extreme and immediate, maybe you should do a liquid diet or cleanse for hubby's event (lol), and then go back to your healthy regimen afterward. HA! That's terrible advice, but Im just being honest.

  4. I love your determination! But keep in mind, it's true that a drastic change in your workout routine might make you gain muscle weight! A better way to track your progress is by measuring yourself. :) Good luck girl - you're well on your way! :)

  5. Keep going. You have to be consistent, which it sounds like you are, so don't give up. That 3 lbs could be water weight as well and it that is not a lot to start getting all emo about. I would recommend drinking a lot of water too. I know that can be hard for some people but you can make your own fruit infused water! Just Do It!!!

  6. I totally understand where you are coming from. I just had a physical (first time ever) and found out that I actually have pre-diabetes (genetics). I have to loose weight to get my BMI better. I met with a Registered Dietitian yesterday, and she wants me to eat more often with less carbs...It's scary coz it's a change from my normal habits(which I thought was healthy). I am trying to tell myself to trust the process, even though it's hard. Long term healthy lifestyle is what I am aiming.

  9. That tank is super cute and I would totally wear that to keep me motivated to work out!
I've been slacking myself so it's nice to hear I'm not the only one. Just have to keep myself motivated by having a goal of what to wear or an event to attend that I want to look smokin hot for!
    keep it up!!

  10. Please be kind to yourself! Sounds like you are taking the right steps and I'm sure your perseverance will pay off. Also, I'm a firm believer in going by how your clothing fits as well vs. the scale - it messes with your head too much.
