Last Minute DIY Christmas Gift

Need a couple cute gifts on a budget?  I think I have a solution.  I made these Christmas mugs for Peyton's teachers.  They were super easy and cheap!

I hit up the dollar store first and picked up the mugs, candy canes, shred and chocolate candy.  I spent about $6.  I picked up the 6 packs hot cocoa at the grocery store. They are sold individually for about $0.65 each.   I put three in each mug, but two would be fine.  If you have a lot of mugs to make you can also buy a box of hot chocolate mix packets.  Individual wrapped teas would be a nice touch.

I put a little of the shred at the bottom of the mug and tried to place the 3 packets of cocoa mix in the mug as nice as possible.  Then I put in the chocolate and candy canes.  I topped it off with a gift card to Starbucks.
Tie some ribbon around the mug and there you have it.  Super easy, cute and cheap!  This is a great idea if you are hosting a holiday party for guest to take home, just skip adding in a gift card.

What is your go to gift on a budget?

  1. Very cute idea! I remember doing something similar when I was in school. :-) I really like getting items and making gift bags from Dollar Tree, especially from the beauty items.
