#Blogalicious5 Recap & Real Talk

I survived another awesome blog conference!  Blogalicious, the conference that celebrates diversity in the social media community, took over Atlanta last week.  The crazy lady that I am, I wore a few hats during the conference as well as trying to maintain the Baby Shopaholic household since it was in Atlanta.
The Bag Ladies team (Danielle Erin and myself) held it down as the official social media partner for the conference sponsored by EDEN BodyWorks!

I had a chance to chat with some amazing social media mavens during the conference.  I also got to hang with my some of my social media besties in real life!
Kia Motors, McDonalds, Happy Family, Pic Monkey, Wells Fargo, Heart of Haiti and Freinds Fun Wine just to name a few.
In addition to hosting the Bag Ladies suite sponsored by EDEN BodyWorks, I also participated as a speaker for the conference hosting one of the Success Blueprints Roundtables.  My topic of discussion was Growing, Creating and Defining Your Niche.  Let me tell you... my nerves were so bad leading up to the discussion.  I could have locked myself in the bathroom and never come out.  I may have gotten off to a rocky start but we ended up having a great discussion.  #GladThatsOver.  I'm thankful that all these beautiful ladies joined my discussion.  We had a great time!  Here are a few key points from our Niche discussion:

  • Share what you are passionate about.
  • Define your point of difference.
  • Be yourself, don't try to do something because everyone else is.
  • Know your readers.
  • Connect with others in your niche.
  • Be the expert in your niche.
  • Your niche is you!  No one else can do what you do (your point of difference)!

The keynote speaker of Blogalicious was Amy Dubois Barnett, Editor-in-Chief of Eboni Magazine and author of Get Yours.  Amy is also former EIC of Harper's Bazaar and editing manager of Teen People.  With all these awesome accolades under her belt, Amy spoke to us like she was with a group of her girl friends.  She kept it so real and talked about low points of her life and when she finally took responsibility for her own life.  She shared her 7 tips to taking control of your life.
  • Embrace fear as Growth.
  • Be true to yourself.
  • Realize your value and demand the best at all times.
  • Put into the universe what you want to get back.
  • Have integrity.
  • Stay independent, this is your life and no one can live it for you.
  • Do something meaningful everyday.
POW!  This was some powerful stuff that we should already be doing but it's always good to be reminded.  She also said "If you have the opportunity to break down a wall, Do it!".  Yes Amy!

The conference was awesome and wish I had more time to hang but I had to jet off to NYC after my round-table discussion.  Did you attend Blogalicious?  What were your takeaways?
