No One Wins

I didn't intend to post about the Trayvon Martin case.  The verdict came in last night.  Not Guilty. The case was not proven beyond a reasonable doubt for the jury.  We have to accept it, learn from it and move on. What I won't accept are racist comments or insensitivity to the issue.  Especially from Mommy Bloggers with a platform.  Please don't post messages with racist undertones & snark in b/w your sponsored tweets during an event like this trial.  People are hurt!  Moms (of all races) are looking at their sons (kids) like they could be a Trayvon Martin.  Bottom line, a child that was walking home from the store ended up dead. No one wins.
Sending prayers to the family.

  3. So sad!! My heart goes out to the Martin family. Some of the racist remarks I have been reading this morning on some forums have been disheartening. A mother has lost her child and the insensitivity not be tolerated!!! Thanks for addressing this Trina!!

  4. On the other hand, I can appreciate her authenticity because it makes it easier for people who don't want to stand for what a person like that represents to disassociate. If such people kept their mouths shut, then we'd be left to wonder what kind of person they are.
I hope the Martin family finds peace and closure some other way.

  6. Well said. If I were to say anything on this matter this would have been the closest to what I would have said.

  7. I am sad for the Martin family but I believe in God's court and his judgement. As for that blogger its such a shame. It shows you the world we live in. People will smile in our face and want us to engage with them but they are not for us. Hopefully more people will see that racism doesnt pay. Yank her sponsors.
