People don’t grind for no reason at all. No one just wakes up and say, I’m going to “Go
hard today” with no motivation behind it. Yeah, we got bills to pay, gotta keep the
lights on and eat. But what is the real
motivation? I could easily say Peyton motivates
me to keep grinding. She does motivate
me to a certain extent, because I want her to have the best life possible. But person that motivates me the most is my Mom.
When I’m tired or just want to quit I think about my
mom. My mom has been through a lot of challenges. My mom grew up in Mississippi before any
civil rights movements even started. To
support the family, all the brothers and sisters had to work picking cotton. She wasn’t a slave but could you imagine by
the time you hit 5 years old you had to work in the field picking cotton until
the sun went down. That was my mom’s
life. When it was high cotton picking
season my mom wasn't able to go to school.
She couldn't just be a kid and get an education.
After getting married and having two kids, my mom left her rural
town and headed to Chicago. Can you
imagine leaving such a small place to head to big city? With a inadequate education, my mom was blessed
to land a great job with an amazing company that she worked for over 30 years. This job allowed her to support me without my
father being in the picture (my brothers and sister are much older than me). My mom and I were able to live in an upper
middle class neighborhood and I went to a great high school. I went on to get my college degree. And my mom kept me looking fly the whole time.
I’m sure a lot of our parents or grandparents have similar
stories. So when times get hard, I think
about my mom and the challenges she overcame. I know I can do anything in life if I work hard (grind) for it. I have everything I need and then some. My mom has worked to hard for me to fail. I'm blessed to have such an amazing woman in my life. There is no reason for me not to be motivated to grind.

I enjoyed reading about your Mom being your motivation. My mom also grew up picking cotton and missing school to do so. I was fortunate also to have a hard working Mom.
ReplyDeleteGoodness this sounds so much like my story! So sad I didn't get to see you when you were here. :(
ReplyDeleteLove this Trina!!! You are blessed!
