Born in to poverty, Gordon Parks became LIFE magazine's first African-American staff photographer and is responsible for some iconic photographs. Gordon Parks was a modern day Renaissance man. He was also a celebrated composer, author and filmmaker who interacted with many of the most prominent people of his era—from politicians and artists to celebrities and athletes.
Macy's will be hosting events all across the country for Black History Month, celebrating Gordon Parks in conjunction with the African American Film Festival. Click HERE to find events in your area.

This sounds like a great idea. I love the fact that Macy's is honoring someone that many people may not know about. I'm not sure I understand why they are having a Soul Jam (seems unnecessary), but I do love the other events they have on tap!
ReplyDeleteThis is good news. Clothing lines should reach out to all races, just like WHBM who also hired black models to represent their clothing line.
