Anything that came out of Maya Angelou's mouth or written in books, was thought provoking. One quote in particular has always stuck with me. "When people show you who they are, believe them." We all have been in bad relationships and waisted so much time hoping that person will change. This could be a boyfriend, friends, family or an associate. I stopped waisting time, hoping that person would change after they showed me who they were. I may have slipped up a few times and let a person show me who they were twice or three times. Shame on me, because I already knew who they were and what I could expect from them.
The flip side to this is you make room for awesome people in your life. I've been blessed with the most incredible best friends any girl could ask for. Most of my besties date back to elementary, middle and high school. If you are in a bad relationship or have some bogus and trifling friends, do yourself a favor and give them the deuces!
Maya Angelou kept it one hundred. RIP.

Finding the strength to let go of negative relationships is always hard. I have begun to realize that a person will only treat you the way you allow yourself to be treated. This quote is so true and definitely words to live by.

My second is, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." People just want to feel loved, appreciated, and respected. Love your blog. Keep up the good work!

ReplyDeleteRelationships are tricky and I've learned in the past few years that I don't deal with people that much unless I feel a connection. I only deal with people I feel are genuine and true, I can't really be concerned with whether or not they can do something for me because with that comes a price I don't want to pay.
I feel so bad about her passing because as these phenomenal people pass on we don't have any others to replace them in this generation and that is truly heart breaking
