October Birch Box Has Arrived!

Have you heard of Birch Box?  It's basically a beauty product sample club!  For $10 a month you receive a box of 4 or 5 full size luxury beauty samples.  I know, why pay for samples?  I first learned about Birch Box from fellow Atlanta Blogger Si Si from Si Si Sparkles!  I just love trying new stuff so for $10 to try 5 products sounds good to me versus paying $50 for a product I don't like.
This is a picture from birch.com of the October box.

Octobers box includes: Blink Mascara, Befinet Lip Serum, Orofluido Elixir , Tea Forte Mints, Pangea Organics Facial Mask. So far I have used two of the products.

I been using Befine Food Skin Care Lip Serum.  I have the crustiest lips so I need some good lip balm.  This stuff is thebomb.com!  It last a long time and doesn't get gunky.
Then I tried the Pangea Organics Facial Mask.
Here is what it looks like when you put it on. Looks like Peyton threw some Gerber peas on my face!  Like most masks, it take some work to get it all off.  After applying moisturizer my skin felt softer and smoother then usual.  I will continue use this mask until its gone.  The price of full size is $12, I see a purchase in my future!

I just want to let you guys know that I do NOT plan on becoming a review blog! I love to share and  love when others share about great products they come across so I don't waste money.

Nordstroms and Neiman Marcus also give out great samples!  So when you go to refill you must have concealer ask the salesperson to load you up with some samples.

Do you use samples or do you go to Sephora and spend $100 to find out you only like half of the products?

*Disclosure:  I purchased the Birch Box with my own money, I was NOT compensated for this post in any way.  The opinions expressed are my own.

As you can see Pretty Girl Glam pieces will definitely stand out in a crowd!  I will be rocking them at Blogalicious this weekend!

The owner Diane of Pretty Girl Glam also makes some awesome videos of her new items.  It's like you girlfriend came over right after she left the mall to show you what she got.

Time For Holiday Cards: Tiny Prints

Christmas will be here before you know it so it's time to start thinking about Holiday cards!  Tiny Prints is normally my first stop when looking for invitations.  Tiny Prints has a great selection of Holiday Cards, Address labels and Invitations!

Here are some of the new cards that I am feeling!
Merry Love
How cute are these!  I am thinking family members could hang the card on the tree!

Love and Cheer
I also like these for a more traditional card.

Since I got my new camera I am excited to take some Holiday photos of Peyton for the Christmas Cards!  Do you send out Holiday cards? Do you like the picture cards or just plain cards box cards?

*Disclosure: I was offered holiday cards in exchange for this post.  Opinions are my own and I have been a longtime customer of Tiny Prints.

Oprah's O You Conference

Saturday I was blessed to be able to attend the O You (Oprah Magazine) Conference here in Atlanta!  It was an all day event and over 5000 women and a few gentlemen attended this one day conference.  So Oprah brought down all her magazine contributors to do what they do best, to help You be your best person.  All I can say was that it was amazing!  Please read after each photo at the O You, I am sharing some of the key points that stuck with me from the speaker.

I went to the conference with two of my friends from work and one of their mother.

Check out this crowd shot!  WOW!  But for it to be that many people it ran very smoothly.  Very organized!
Oprah's Best Friend Gale severed an MC role and got thing started.  I didn't know Gale was that HOT!  She looks gorge!

Lisa Ling was the first speaker.  She started off talking about sex trafficking and teen prostitution,  I know the first speaker talking about something so sad.  But she shared a poem at the end about a man asking God why do things like this happen if there was a God... And God responded, "That's why I made you!".   Powerful!  It's like people that do good are God's super hero's!  Definitely makes me want to do more.
Dr. Oz shared that 70% of how we age are lifestyle decisions.  Make sure you watch the following:
  • Blood Pressure
  • Diet
  • Physical Activity
  • Stress
Dr. Oz also suggests to write down question before you go to the doctor.  Ask about prescriptions before leaving the office (generic, alternatives, etc.).  May help to record the conversation.

I love me some Suze Orman!  I wish I took action on some of the things she said back in the day!  Here are some things that stood out to me.
  • Do Not wait for the Government to save you, You have to Save yourself!
  • Live below your means but within your needs.
  • Put yourself first!  Take care of yourself so you can be strong for you family.
  • It's OK to say NO!

Martha Beck, life coach, spoke about finding your passion.
  • Read the signs to find your passion
  • Look at your tracks
  • Scout the territory - ask questions
  • "Fear not the darkness is gentler then you think"

Nate Berkus sported an interesting outfit.  What stood out to me was "Be a ruthless editor of what you put in your home".  He said we all have a story so let your home tell the story.  NICE!

Sarah Blakely the creator of Spanx came out and shared her story.  She kept working at her 9-5 even after she signed deals with Neimans and Saks.  Even when she quit her job she was still scared.  But 2 weeks after she quit the Oprah show called!

Of course Spanx was one of the sponsor and they had a Boot Bar!  They gave each person a pair of Spanx Tights!

When we get back to the main room these swag bags are waiting in our seats.  So I didn't get a car but the bag had some great items.

All the speakers came out and shared "This is what I know for sure", which is a feature in the O Magazine.
Finally!  My girl Oprah hit the stage!  She SHUT IT DOWN! I wish I could have recorded the whole speech.
  • She said Strength x Strength x Strength equals POWER!  So what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!
  • You have to overcome fear
    • Identify what you are afraid of
    • What would I do if I wasn't afraid
    • What your afraid of isn't even there, it's in your head.
  • Then she spoke about self worth.  She said you are worthy because you were born!
  • "Be Still" and listen to God! She shared they her company meditates twice a day.
She said so many powerful things, again I wish I could get the transcript.

I know some of the things I shared are common sense but sometimes we may need to be reminded and recharged!  I am so happy I went.  I know I  need to do better with the  "Be Still"  and to push forward with my passion.

I hope something I shared can help you or someone you know to be a better You!  What do you do or live by to be a better You?  Please share.

Weekend Style

I hope everyone had an awesome weekend!  On Saturday I  attended to Oprah O You event here in Atlanta!  So I didn't get to spend too much time with Peyton on Saturday.  Sunday we headed out for a late lunch.

Peyton is wearing a pink longsleeve t-shirt from H & M.  Jeggins from Walmart, $5.  Mister purchased these boots on Saturday, he said he thought I would like them because they look like the combat boots I have been wearing.  Dear these are construction boots : )  He tried!  Still cute though.

Are you wearing boots yet?

Blogalicious! What Am I Going to Wear?

Next weekend I will be headed to the Blogalicious conference in Washington DC!  This will be my first conference (away from home) and my first time in DC.

I really love this blogging world and want to learn more.  I did not plan on loving blogging this much so I never thought about attending a conference. I plan on attending Blogher next year in NYC!  (Who else is going? Let's kick it!)  But I will be at BLOGALICIOUS!!! Here is a brief description of the conference:
Founded in 2009, the Blogalicious Weekend conferences are aimed at celebrating the diversity of women of all ethnicities in social media. Over the course of 3 event-filled days, savvy, influential and talented women bloggers will ignite a sense of unity within the multicultural blogging community as well as educate marketers on the importance of our demographic in today’s marketplace, all while networking, building relationships, and promoting inspiration and success for each other
This may be a young conference but it is sold out!  From what I hear and others experiences, it is off the chain!  I am looking forward to learning how to be a better blogger and meeting other bloggers in real life!

Now that we got the technical stuff out the way, what am I going to wear???

My girl Natalie from Designer Bags and Dirty Diapers posted about Claudia Shaffer last week with looks that I love!

You know I will be sporting a bow blouse!  Wouldn't it be cool if I rocked shades during the conference : )Do you like these looks?

Hopefully I will have something pulled together this weekend so I can show you guys.

What do you think of going to blog conferences?  Are you going to Blogalicious?  Do you plan on going to any in the future?

Designer Consignment

I hit up The Finer Consigner in Johns Creek. It was like a Saks Fifth Ave return center!  Soon as I walked in I got hit in the face with Christian Louboutains, Gucci Boots, Chanel bags and Burberry trench coats! Dude, it's in walking distance from my house and I have never been in! This place has so many great things! If you are ever in Atlanta and want some red bottoms for half the price this is the spot. I will be getting my first pair from here.

I have been wanting this bag for like 5 years!  And it is here!  Problem is the seller is still asking a lot for this bag and it looks good but you can see she used it a lot.   Please pray she has a change of heart!

I love this suede Chanel bag.  It's really in great shape, this picture makes it look discolored but it is not.

They had several David Yurman pieces.

Brand New Louis Vuitton booties.
Those cork Louboutains have never been worn!
This boutique also has a authentic guarantee!  So if you go to Chanel and they tell you it is not real they will give you all your money back.

I made an investment in these bad boys!

These are Christian Dior Mary Janes!  These caught my eye when I was walking out the door!  I am just going to say you guys are probably going to get tired of me wearing these.
Look at the bottom.  It doesn't even look like they were worn. I needed to invest in some  nice shoes.  They retailed for $825 but I got them for a small fraction of that price : ).

This "Green" shopping is working out nicely!  Between thrifting and Consignment you can really "Ball" on a budget.  What do you think?  Do you shop at consignment?  Do you consign?  Do you have any Gucci's you want to get rid of?  Email me : )
