Atlanta Diaper Relief

Last Tuesday I attended Cocktails for a Cause at Nancy's Pizza benefiting Atlanta Diaper Relief.  I complain about buying diapers all the time, but could you imagine if you could not afford them and had too keep your child in the same diaper all day or longer?  Atlanta Diaper Relief is a incredible organizations that help provide those in need with diapers.

Kia Morgan Smith, the founder of Atlanta Diaper Relief and I.  I don't know what my scarf was doing!  Atlanta Diaper Relief was recently awarded 50K diapers from Huggies!  Awesome job Kia!
Ronnie and Lamar Tyler from Black and Married with Kids

Joyce Brewer from Mommy Talk Show and author of Use What You Know: A Business Idea Guide for Moms.

This was a fun night connecting with these amazing people.  I learned a lot about what the Atlanta Diaper Relief does and that I need to help.

Here are some fact about families struggling with diaper needs for their babies.
  • Safety-net programs such as the Food Stamp Program and WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children) do not cover the cost of diapers.
  • An adequate supply of diapers can cost over $100 per month.
  • 1 in 20 women cleaned out or re-used soiled diapers.
  • The vast majority of licensed day care centers do not accept cloth diapers, and require parents and caregivers to provide a steady supply of disposable diapers.
  • Most people living in poverty do not have affordable access to washing facilities. Furthermore, most coin-operated Laundromats do not allow customers to wash cloth diapers for health and sanitary reasons.
  • Uncomfortable babies cry and don’t sleep well at night—this leads to poorly-rested and higher-stressed parents and siblings, which can contribute to illnesses, absences and reduced performance levels at work and school.
  • Nonprofits working with individuals and families in crisis list diapers as an ongoing and TOP need.
You do not have to be in Atlanta to support.  Please check out website and find out how you can help.  I am sure there are similar programs in your area.  Moving forward I will be working with Kia and her organization.  It is easy to take things like one diaper for granted.

Peyton's Christmas Style

I hope everyone had a Fabulous Christmas!  Peyton enjoyed her Christmas but Sunday night she started to get a cold.  She is a little under the weather but she was able to enjoy the day.  Sunday evening we went over to a girlfriends house for dinner.

Peyton wore this red holiday cowl neck sweater from Old Navy that was $10 with Garanimal jeggings from Walmart from that were $3.50.

Red is always great to rock during the Holidays!

Peyton is in love with her new ride!  I mean she would not get out of the car!  We had to give her the rest of her gifts while sitting in the car.  She figured out how to make it go and she needs some insurance!  Luckily no walls have been busted... Yet!

Oh, Peyton got me the Pop phone!  So in love!

What did you get for Christmas?

Fashion Question Friday: Party Baby Boy

One of my bloggy girlfriends Alicia from Shaken Not Blurred had a question about what her 5 month old baby should wear to a birthday party.

I suggested an outfit with layers.  Layers work great for two reasons.  One, because you may not know the enviorment, it could change from cold to hot.  Two, baby could have a blowout!  If baby has on a one piece suit then the whole outfit is ruined!  You can just switch out the pants.
Outfit via Gap.com.  This look screams ready to party!  Make sure you top it off with a cute bib.

This is Baby O's party look!  I just want to nibble on those cheeks!  Love it.  Mommy and I talked about the look the night before the party so she worked with what she had but mom did use layers.  Baby O looks so handsome and ready to party!

Do you have a fashion, style, beauty questions for yourself or baby?  You can submit your question by leaving a comment with email or just email me at thebabyshopaholic at gmail

Mama's Holiday Party Style

Last Friday night my company had it's Holiday party.  My company is super casual and normally our parties are not much more then a Happy Hour.  This year they pulled out the stops and we had a Casino themed party and they wanted us to dress the part.

I am wearing a French Connection dress. I wore this dress for my bachlorette party over 4 years ago!  These STUNNING earrings are from Pretty Girl Glam!
Mister and I.
NO! That is NOT a baby bump! Bad lighting, LOL!  And yes, I did wear tights with Jeffrey Campbell open toe shoes.  This is a big debate issue.  I think if you are wearing thick or opaque tights it can work.  Don't do it with panty hose!  I also suggest not to wear them with sling backs shoes.  But that's my opinion.

Where do you stand on the tight or panty hose with open toe shoes?

Kmart and Sears Luxe for Less Holiday Shopping

Kmart has informed me of some wallet-friendly alternatives to the luxury goods featured in Harper's Bazaar's 2011 Best Gifts for Women as Kmart would like to help you find the perfect gifts for the luxe ladies on your Christmas list or for yourself.  These are definitely some great alternatives! Well except for the Louis bag!  No alternative for that! LOL!  But check it out!

So I took a mini shopping spree at my local Sears to see what Luxe items I could find!

Peyton is giving this robe to her Nana (my MIL).  It hard to see but it is a cozy soft material.  On sale for $24.
Picked up this fleece Lands End sweater for Mister on sale for $15.

I got this beautiful dress for Peyton for $13!
You know I had to check out the Kardashian Kollection!  They have a ton of fabulous pieces!  So I got this for $35.  It's really not my style but I thought I would try something different.  Do I look like Kim?  What do yall think?

I picked up this blouse by UK Style by French Connection for $25.  I figure I can wear it now and in the spring.

I spent a total of $108 after I used a 15% off coupon.  So what do you think of the luxe for less items from Kmart?  What do you think about the Sears picks?

*Disclosure:  The luxe for less was put together by Sears/Kmart representative.  I was given a gift card to Sears/Kmart to sample items.  Opinions expressed are my own.
